In the latest safety study of Amberen prolonged and systematic administration of the compound didn’t cause adverse side effects in rats that received 500% of the recommended daily dosage. Furthermore, Amberen had significant and lasting positive effect on the cardiovascular system of the animals and even prevented incidents of heart arrhythmia.

The studies were performed on rats with implanted sensors that recorded basic heart rhythm parameters. The effects Amberen on heart muscle were analyzed by monitoring rhythmic inotropic characteristics of papillary muscle on the right heart ventricle.

Additional safety studies were launched in 2009 for the purpose of researching possible long-term side effects of Amberen and its effects on the cardiac muscle.

Lunada Biomedical has developed a proprietary technology for producing succinate mercaptan: a pharmaceutic compound designed to be a superior analog to Succimer. Succimer is an FDA-approved generic drug used for treatment of lead poisoning.

Succinate Mercaptan synthesized by Lunada Biomedical scientists showed impressive ability to effectively remove heavy metals, such as lead, mercury from the body without adverse side effects on liver and kidneys. Furthermore, Succinate mercaptan accelerated the destruction (catabolism) of toxic metabolic byproducts and also showed potential to relieve psycho-emotional and physical stress.

These findings indicate that in addition to heavy metal poisoning, Succinate mercaptan may be used to treat depression. Follow up studies will be performed to determine additional medicinal properties of succinate mercaptan.
